Short-term Mission Trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand-September 2023 to April 2024
Dear Friends and Family,
As I finish up my last semester at Emory University, God has presented me with an exciting opportunity to share His Gospel with the children in Thailand. I thank God for this chance to serve His Kingdom in my gap year before medical school. From this September to next April, I will be traveling as a missionary to serve at Mango House, a children’s safe house located in urban Chiang Mai, Thailand, to help provide an education to underprivileged kids and foster a relationship with our Lord and Savior.
Mango House was founded by Elijah Foundation, a Christian non-profit organization led by Pastor Daniel Jung. Their vision is perfectly encapsulated by two words: discipleship and education. Their goals are to make mature disciples for Jesus who will live out their life of calling by building His Kingdom and to equip these kids with an education so they can be productive members of their community. This amazing work is done by extending God’s grace to these children and giving them an opportunity to know and grow in God.
For most of my college years, I struggled to have a deeper connection with my faith and spiritual community. But through my friend and sister in Christ, Isabella, I was introduced to Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church which became my spiritual home to grow deep in my personal relationship with Jesus. Recently, God has been teaching me that instead of giving a fruitful harvest, he provides the seeds that will grow into an even fuller harvest. I believe going to Thailand is part of God’s plan to grow the seeds he has given me. As 1 Peter 5:10 says, “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” Despite all my brokenness and struggles, God saved me and called me for His Kingdom. He has shown me that there is a chance to grow when I am uncomfortable sharing my faith. He encourages me that He will never abandon me but is walking alongside me. Through His grace, I am reminded that I am a servant of God who was made to live for His glory. God has transformed my heart, and now I want to help transform the hearts of others out in Thailand.
How I will be serving:
While I am there, I will be tutoring kids in math and English. I will also be leading extracurricular clubs, which involve anything that can help benefit the children. I will definitely be found on the basketball court or in the music room playing the piano. I am excited to take these gifts that God has given me and use them to show how He provides. In addition, I will also help the ministry team with both bible study and Sunday services on the weekends.
How you can support:
Please pray for me as I prepare my heart to serve. Here are my prayer requests: 1. To be spiritually prepared to serve both faithfully and intentionally. 2. To listen to God’s wisdom on fundraising with gratefulness and thanksgiving. 3. To show humility in knowing that I am nothing without God and He is our ultimate provider.
If you are able and willing, please also consider supporting me financially. For the 8 months that I plan to be there, I need to raise $9000 to cover rent, food, travel expenses, insurances, and a visa. If you would like to donate, you can visit this link HERE or use the QR code down below. Make sure in the “Suggested Use” box you include my name! In addition, throughout this journey, I will be sending out monthly updates. If you would also like to receive in-person prayer cards, please fill out this Google Form with your name and address!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter and for considering supporting me! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like further information. I am so excited to see how God’s plan unfolds as I serve His Kingdom overseas.
In Christ,
Brianna
